Here are small business trends that will be hot in 2013. How to tap into them?
We are half-way in 2013, but no worries – you can still tap on lucrative small business opportunities.
Join Rieva Lesonsky, CEO of GrowBiz Media, in her webinar hosted by Irvine Chamber on MSN’s Business on Main.
The webinar is packed by trends and ideas to inspire you – it’s 48 minutes long, so just sit back, get your notes ready and start jotting down ideas…
To recap, here are trends and ideas I spot from the webinar:
1. 50 is the new 30
Everything is overlapping. We can no longer categorize our target market by age group like before; things have changed. Products choices are abundant, and quite often, age doesn’t matter anymore.
2. Hot market: Seniors
Non-medical home care opportunities are in trend, but you will need to go niche to maximise your reach into the market.
3. Retail consumers are growing in confidence
Watch out for online sales: In 2013-2016 period it will grow by nearly 50%. So, get ready to go online, or if you have already gone online, focus more resources on your online store.
4. Best way to reach customers
Email marketing. Period. Best days to reach out to customers? In particular order: Friday, Tuesday, Monday/Thursday. How about Sunday? It’s the least popular.
5. Women shopper, beware!
…Male shoppers are on the rise as there are more stay-at-home dads and more dads are sharing home responsibilities. Focus on men-related products and services and also pitch your marketing with messages geared toward male audience.
6. Tablet shopping is on the rage – mobile retail is HOT
Mobile retail market is a $21 billion market! 129% y-o-y sales increase from smartphones… and check this out: 178% sales boost is coming from tablets.
7. Opportunities in stress!
Americans are stressed – they need solutions; huge opportunities for you who answer the call. Relaxation drinks, yoga, stress-management apps.
8. Food trucks are still hot
By 2017, food trucks will generate $2.7 billion in revenue – about 4 times more than 2012! Low cost, high potential.
9. Healthy snacks, gluten-free foods, and other health options are fads no more
Offer gluten-free options on your restaurants; sell gluten-free snacks; the market is huge ( $4.2 billion in 2012 )
10. Everything mobile
Want more website visitors? Make yours mobile-friendly. Want to tap on mobile shoppers? Mobile-commerce-enable your online store.
11. Big data rocks!
No longer for big corp., it is now accessible to small businesses. Learn more about your customers from your existing data and offer laser-targeted products to them.
